» Goju – Ryu

Goju - Ryu is a style that mix forms " hard" (Go) with forms " smooth" (Ju), created for Chojun Miyagi, pupil of the master Kanryo Higaonna (1853-1917), that it was, so to speak, the Father of the restoration of the Naha You in Okinawa, Japan. Master Miyagi after passing 4 years in China, where he trained styles Pará Kua Chang and Shaolin Chuan, came back Okinawa and, basing on the beginning of YIN-YANG (the energies negative and positive that conduct the universe), joined the flexibility of the Chinese arts to the rigidity of Naha-You, creating the Goju-ryu - the Rigid School of and the Flexible one. GO = HARD; JU = FLEXIBLE; RYU= STYLE The Goju-ryu is the style of Karate that search the balance of the opposites, of the different and complementary energies. It teaches how to act: if with energy or calm, fast or smoothness. He characterizes for opting to positions high, but steady and powerful, next to the street fight. To practise Goju-ryu is to learn to be as the water: flowed and without form, therefore being able itself to assume all the forms; soft calm and, turning itself from the obstacles, or revolt, both with the power to exceed any obstacles, exactly the ones that apparently seem not to want to yield.
