The Association of Protection of the Ardinas, currently assigned for Foundation Workmanship of the Ardina, appeared in 1942, due one the deep necessities of the Ardinas that proclaimed periodicals in the streets of Lisbon, which if had essentially the low social, economical and cultural conditions evidenced by these young. Collated with this reality, the Moreira Priest organizes activities, as courses of learning the language, colonies of vacation and lunches/conviviality’s offered for the Feminine Portuguese Youth, with the goal of allowing a personal and social valuation, and providing a steady and balanced professional future.

Giving importance to these activities, a group of ladies of led for the Social Assistant Maria Luísa Ressano Garcia, they use to advantage this work, and they study to give to reply to the problem of the ardinas, elaborating the Statute of the Association in 1942. It is as soon as is born the “Association of Protection of the Ardinas”, that soon it is implemented, not only develops and works in Lisbon, but also in Coimbra.

With passing of the time, “Association of Protection of the Ardinas”, was suffering to transformations and natural adaptations, in the search of new and better answers, and is in 29 of August 1962 that new statutes are approved and the Association passes to call “Foundation Workmanship of the Ardina”.

The decade of 70 instability in all is remembered as a time of crisis/the sectors of the Portuguese life which the “Workmanship of the Ardina” suffered to new alterations and adjustments, which had demanded a change of statutes, and in 20 from April of 1987 that the alteration total of the statutes of the Foundation is approved, that invigorate until today.

Although this instability, was in 1980 that the “Workmanship of the Ardina” made its first experience of Home. In 1983 it opened the first home of shelter in Lisbon, and was since then, that this valence more came to be the onslaught.

The Foundation of the Ardina appeared as association 1942 and destined only the protection of the Ardinas of the City of Lisbon, it suffered throughout the year’s alterations and adjustments that had at risk elapsed of the social necessities of children and young. With diverse Valences in functioning between which Pertaining to school Formation, Professional Formation, Religious Formation and Gardens of Infancy, the Valence of Homes of Shelter of children and young have been of bigger relief in the pursuit of the institutional goals.

1.1) INSTITUCIONAL GOALS
I - To receive children and young in moral danger, almost delinquents or already delinquents, being promoted its integral formation and professional adaptation;
II - To collaborate with all the entities in the prevention of delinquency.
III - To interest the families of the children and the young in its formation human being and professional valuation, promoting its moral and social recovery in the way where they live.

1.2) SPECIFIC OBJECTIVOS
I - To give to reply the situations of social and economical lacks;
II - To give to reply the situations of recklessness or familiar abandonment;
III - To give to reply the situations of difficulties of pertaining to school adaptation;
IV - To give to reply the situations of difficulties of social adaptation with misalignments to the level of the behavior.
