The Handball Association of Lisbon - abbreviated AAL - was founded on 30 November 1931.

The Program is a collective person of private law and public utility profit.

The Program has the main purpose the following general objectives:

• To promote, regulate, manage and organize in the area of jurisdiction, the practice of handball in all its components.
• Represent, before the public administration, the interests of its members.
• Establish and maintain relations with the Federation, with other Associations and Clubs with their affiliates.
• Organize annual regional championships and / or other evidence considered appropriate to the expansion and development of the sport.
• Supervise and monitor the unofficial evidence that, on its own initiative, its affiliates are held in their area of jurisdiction.
• Protect and defend the legitimate interests of its affiliated clubs and their athletes.
